Art of Brewing Export Bitter
Back in 1992 when I first visited the Art of Brewing shop in Kingston Upon Thames, I bought a couple of kits made by a company called Sheraton, and I remember thinking they were okay. Upon my recent return to home brewing, I was sad to discover that Sheraton no longer exist. The good news is that Art of Brewing have bought the brand and their recipes and continue to make these kits under their own banner.
Although the Art of Brewing Export Bitter is said to be the maltiest of the AoB products I went further and added a kilo of extra of spray malt, half a kilo of brewing sugar and a fistful of dried hops. Initially I was a little worried that I might have over done the mix but as it turned out the final drink was pleasing. The original gravity measured an impressive 1046, finishing at 1011 giving us an ABV of 4.7%.
Throughout the time this strong and tasty Export Bitter has been on tap here at home, it has been the most frequently requested ale by my guests.
