Muntons Connoiseur’s Traditional

This was the second time I brewed this ale. The first time was twenty years ago when the label looked like the one below…

As you can see Muntons periodically change their look. The image in the righthand column decorated my most recent purchase but a couple of months after that, Muntons decided to change the design again! Muntons are aware there’s something amiss with their image and are determined to improve it.

I brewed Connoisseur’s Traditional Bitter along with three others in preparation for Christmas 2011. I had hoped it was going to be outstanding among them but alas, and I hate to say it, Connoisseur’s Traditional Bitter was nothing special. Because I was just starting out at the time I cannot swear that I gave the ale a full chance. It’s possible that this ale might have improved significantly given more time to mature, however, the short time I had available before Christmas dictated the outcome.

Muntons have been producing home brew kits for a long while and certainly have a good reputation. I don’t want to rule out this product for the future, I would still like to see if I could achieve better results with this Connoisseur’s Traditional Bitter on another occasion.
